Valued Client
You paid your premiums. You did everything right. Then the wildfire, the hurricane, the hailstorm, or the burst pipe arrived, and the company that promised to make you whole started looking for reasons not to. A lowball estimate. A request for one more document. A denial letter full of policy language written by their lawyers, for their benefit.
Lantern Law Group exists for exactly this moment. We are property insurance attorneys who represent policyholders, never insurance companies. Founding attorney Peter Diiorio has spent two decades in first-party property claims, beginning with the homeowners of Hurricane Katrina, and has recovered more than $40 million for clients whose insurers refused to pay what their policies required. Today we bring that experience to homeowners and business owners across the country, wherever disaster strikes.

If your property and your policy are on the line, we can help. Lantern Law Group handles residential and commercial insurance claims arising from every major loss event.
Total losses, smoke and ash contamination, and the long fight over rebuild costs. Wildfire claims are among the largest and most contested claims in insurance. We make sure yours is valued like it.
Wind versus water disputes, roof denials, and adjusters who show up late and pay less. We have handled hurricane claims since Katrina and know every tactic in the carrier playbook.
Straight-line winds and severe storms can tear a roof apart in minutes. Insurers often blame wear and tear instead. We prove the difference.
Hail losses are routinely underpaid because the damage is easy to minimize on paper. Independent inspections and honest valuations change that conversation.
When a tornado levels part of a home or business, families need full policy value fast. We push claims forward while you focus on recovery.
Burst pipes, roof leaks, and sudden water losses trigger some of the most commonly denied claims in the industry. We untangle the exclusions and hold insurers to the coverage you bought.
When disaster closes your doors, business interruption coverage is supposed to keep you alive. We fight for lost income, ongoing expenses, and the full recovery period.
When an insurer ignores deadlines, misrepresents your policy, or refuses to investigate fairly, that is more than a dispute. It may be bad faith, and it can entitle you to damages far beyond your underlying claim value.
Why choose lantern law group
We are not a general practice or a mass tort operation. First-party property insurance disputes are our entire focus, and we’ve been fighting for homeowners for more than two decades.
A public adjuster can estimate your loss. Only an attorney can enforce your policy, take your insurer to court, and pursue bad faith damages. You get legal leverage from day one.
Your case will not disappear into a call center. You work directly with the attorney handling your claim, from first review to final recovery.
Our interests are aligned with yours. You pay nothing up front and nothing at all unless we recover money for you.
What’s the cost
Every case starts with a free, no-obligation review of your policy and your claim. If we take your case, we work on contingency: no hourly bills, no retainers, no risk added to a disaster that has already taken enough from you. This is the same promise we have made to policyholders since 2005: you only pay if we win.

How We work
We read your policy, your correspondence, and the carrier's position, then tell you plainly how we see your claim, what additional evidence may be needed, and whether the insurer appears to be treating you fairly.
We build the evidence the carrier hoped you would never gather: inspections, experts, documentation, and a demand grounded in the real cost of making you whole. And we advance the costs with no risk to you, meaning no costs advanced on your case are owed unless and until a recovery is made.
Most claims resolve once the insurer sees you have counsel who will actually try the case. When they still refuse to pay fairly, we litigate, and we pursue bad faith remedies where the law allows.
FAQs
Common reasons include alleged pre-existing damage, late notice, policy exclusions, and disputes over cause of loss. A denial is the insurer's opinion, not the final word. Many denials do not survive contact with an attorney who reads the policy closely.
Not before you know what your claim is actually worth. First offers are negotiating positions, and accepting one can close your claim permanently. A free policy review tells you where you stand before you sign anything.
Insurers owe policyholders a duty of good faith and fair dealing. Unreasonable delays, misrepresenting coverage, refusing to investigate, and lowballing without basis can all cross the line into bad faith, which may entitle you to damages beyond the underlying claim itself.
Deadlines come from both your policy and state law, and they can be short. After a major disaster, some deadlines are extended, and others are not. The safest move is to have your insurance claim reviewed promptly by an experienced attorney.
Nothing up front. Consultations are free, and we work on contingency, so our fee comes only from a recovery we win for you. We offer a no-risk contract, where you do not have to pay costs advanced on your case unless and until a recovery is made.
A public adjuster estimates damage but cannot enforce your policy or bring a bad faith claim. When an insurer is delaying, denying, or underpaying, legal leverage is what changes behavior. Plus an attorney can recommend an expert estimator and advance the cost of an independent estimate, usually at a significantly lower cost than a public adjuster.
About
Peter Diiorio has represented policyholders against insurance companies since 2005, when he began fighting for New Orleans homeowners in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. In the two decades since, he has recovered more than $40 million for families and business owners whose claims were denied, delayed, or underpaid.
Mr. Diiorio knows what is most important to his clients – “how much” and “when” – and pursues recoveries with that foremost in his mind.
As disasters have grown nationally, so has his practice. Lantern Law Group is now one firm, built to stand with policyholders wherever the storm, fire, or tornado hits, with offices in Colorado Springs and New Orleans.
